Liu Yanzi was born in 2000 in Shandong Province, China. Currently based in Tokyo, Japan, studying at Tama Art University (expected to graduate in March 2025).
Liu's artistic forms of expression encompass, but are not limited to, glass, painting, and installations. Through her art, she expresses her concerns and perspectives on the world, including societal and cultural events, or phenomena. In the realm of modern glassmaking, she does not obsess over craftsmanship and techniques: she uses glass as a material to manifest her worldview.
Presently, Liu explores the issues of human and non-human identities and symbols in the context of contemporary society. Her works attempt to mutually clash and deconstruct the original symbolic values behind glass and readymades, aiming to obtain new contexts. Another aspect of her works is a feminine perspective, and it is precisely because her works stem from the female body and social experiences. Her works serve as a medium closely related to identity and symbol issues in contemporary society.
